Faroes to back North American World Cup bid

The Faroese Football Association (FSF) will be voting for the combined bid from the US, Mexico and Canada to host the 2026 World Cup.

The other contender is Morocco.

In previous years, it has been a FIFA committee which has decided on the host nations.

But now FIFA’s member nations get to vote on the host for the 2026 World Cup.

“The US, Mexican and Canadian bid looks very exciting, and it looks more beneficial for us, financially,” says Christian Andreasen, the FSF president.

The 2018 World Cup will start in Russia tomorrow. The 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar.
