The law regarding national broadcasting corporation Kringvarp Føroya (KVF) is currently being reviewed, according to the Prime Minister’s annual Ólavsøka speech.

One expected change in the law is a reduced licence fee for small businesses.

The government is also looking at ways to create more variety in KVF’s news coverage. One way of achieving this would be to split the newsroom into two separate units, one for radio and one for television.

Fólkaflokkurin (The People’s Party) proposed this solution in February, but there was not much support for it at the time.

Útvarp Føroya (radio) and Sjónvarp Føroya (TV) were combined in autumn 2004 to form Kringvarp Føroya.
