Kosovo fully deserved its 2-0 victory against the Faroe Islands last night.

Despite dominating the first half, Kosovo did not have any real attempts at the Faroese goal, and the match remained goalless at half-time.

The Faroese team had one first-half attempt at the Kosovo goal, but Brandur Olsen’s free kick went over the crossbar.

Kosovo speeded up its game significantly in the second half, and it did not take long before this started paying off.

Arber Zeneli made it 1-0 after 49 minutes, and only six minutes later Atdhe Nuhiu increased Kosovo’s lead to 2-0.

In the post-match interview, Faroese coach Lars Olsen said that his team lost to a much stronger side.

He added that the Faroese team has to up its game significantly if it is to stand any chance of winning next month’s return game.

The other D3 game, between Malta and Azerbaijan, finished in a 1-1 draw.

1. Kosovo 2 matches 4 points
2. Faroe Islands 2 matches 3 points
3. Azerbaijan 2 matches 2 points
4. Mal

The Faroes have two home games coming up next month – against Azerbaijan on 11 October and against Kosovo on 14 October.
