Big income boost for Tórshavn

Tórshavn City Council is expecting a total income of DKK 999 million next year.
The budget proposal for 2019, which will be presented on Thursday, shows an estimated income growth of 5.1 percent and a 4.9-percent expense growth.
The population increase in recent years has created a growing need for investments throughout the capital region.
Among the top priorities for next year are the creation of 149 new day-care places, improved internet connection in schools and digitalisation of administrative services.
DKK 160 million will be spent on new buildings for the á Fløtum school and on the new music academy, which is due to open this summer.
The Port of Tórshavn expansion project will cost around DKK 100 million next year.
A significant amount will also be spent on repaying debts, and according to the City Council, the municipality will soon be debt-free.
The final approval deadline for municipal budget proposals is 1 December.
