Foreign worker held after late-night brawl

A man of foreign descent has been detained for 13 days in connection with a violent episode in Tórshavn.

Police report that a man suffered a broken nose in a fight with another man outside a bar in the city.

According to news portal in.fo, the suspect was taken into custody to prevent him from leaving the country during the investigation.

As the police is not allowed to keep a person in custody for more than 24 hours without initiating legal proceedings, there was a preliminary hearing on Saturday morning in which the judge imposed a 13-day detention sentence.
