The municipalities in Suðuroy wish to investigate the possibility of resuming the passenger ferry service between Suðuroy and Scotland.

The municipalities sent a recommendation report to the government yesterday, calling for talks with the transport ministry and the national transport company to bring the plan forward.

They argued that this route, which was discontinued some years ago, had been popular among Faroese and British tourists, and it also played a crucial role for the export and import industry not only in Suðuroy but throughout the Faroes.
