Population growth in Vágur

Vágur Municipality has compared population figures in Suðuroy from 1 May 2013 to 1 May 2018.

The only municipality on the island that has seen population growth is Vágur, with an increase of 70 citizens since 2013.

Five municipalities in Suðuroy have seen a decline in the population compared to 2013.

Sumba Municipality has the same population today as five years ago.

Vágur Municipality’s population growth is 5.4%, close to the national average of 5.6%.

The total population of Suðuroy decreased by 1.2% in the five-year period.

On 1 May this year, the population of Vágur Municipality was 1,369.
