Tórshavn approaching half of total population

The latest demographic figures from Statistic Faroe Islands show that 50,927 people lived in the Faroe Islands on 1 June 2018.

According to Tórshavn City Council, this figure has now exceeded 51,000.

Tórshavn Municipality’s population has seen a 1.8% increase in the past year, which is the highest relative growth of all major municipalities in the country.

This is the first time that the population in the capital region exceeds 42% of the total national figure.
