Big wage growth in 2018

DKK 9.44 billion were paid out in salaries last year, compared with 8.95 billion the previous year. This is a year-on-year increase of 5.4 percent.

December saw the highest monthly salary payout, with just over DKK 900 million in wages, according to new figures from Statistics Faroe Islands.

The figures also show that men continue to earn more than women. Last year, men earned a total of DKK 5.9 billion, while women earned DKK 3.5 billion.

The industry sector with the highest wage payout last year (DKK 3.1 billion) was ‘Public and other services’.
