University courses in creative writing and music

This autumn will see the start of two new diploma programmes at the University of the Faroes Islands, one in creative writing and one in music.
The course is divided into two-thirds practical and one-third theoretical study, with the first part consisting of a general introduction to artistic analysis, and then students will have the option to specialise in either creative writing or music.
Taught by professional artists
A minimum admission requirement is a ‘miðnámsprógv’ – roughly equivalent to British grammar school and American high school diplomas – along with an entrance exam.
Award-winning poet Rói Patursson will head the creative writing workshop, and composer Sunnleif Rasmussen will be in charge of the music workshop.
According to the university’s website, the plan is to admit students every two years.
