Kvívík planning small hydroelectric plant
The heating of Kvívík’s nursery and church may soon come from a small hydroelectric power station, as part of the village’s new green agenda

Kvívík municipality has set out to build a mini-hydroelectric power station in an effort to cut down on oil consumption.

The village council spends DKK 250,000 annually on oil to heat up the nursery and the church, and the new power station will pay for itself within only a few years, says mayor Heri Müller.

The Environment Agency is currently processing the village council’s application for setting up the new system.
