Big increase in passenger numbers

Almost 38,000 travellers passed through Vágar Airport last month, which is 24 percent more than in April 2018.

March, on the other hand, saw a decrease of three percent, compared with March 2018.

Passengers numbers in March and April are closely tied with the date of Easter.

Crowded airport

In the first four months of this year, 103,000 people passed through the airport, 10,700 more than in the same period last year – an increase of 11.6 percent.

Vágar Airport is working on ways to accommodate the growing number of travellers.

The car rental administration has moved to the old terminal, and other minor changes have also been made.
