Lower council tax rates in seven municipalities

Although most municipalities saw an increase in tax revenue last year, only seven out of the country’s 29 municipalities have lowered their council tax rates in 2020.

In most of these seven municipalities, the tax rate has been reduced by less than one percentage point.

However, in Fámjin, the only municipality that saw a drop in tax income last year, the tax rate has dropped from 19 to 16 percent.

The highest council tax rate in 2020 is 22 percent. The lowest is 16 percent. 

This year’s average council tax rate is 20.19 percent, compared to 20.24 percent last year.

Child allowance payments have been raised in five municipalities and lowered in one. The highest child allowance payment in 2020 is DKK 10,000, and the lowest is DKK 5,000.
