Gyms preparing to reopen

Fitness centres across the country are currently restructuring their facilities in accordance with strict COVID-19 hygiene requirements ahead of their planned 4 May reopening.
One of these is Burn in Tórshavn, which has received guidance from the Corona consultancy service for workplaces.
“We have removed half of our treadmills and cardio machines to meet the two-metre distance requirement,” says Burn manager Jákup Suni Berg.
Showers closed
Other safety measures include closing the changing rooms and reducing the size of group exercise classes from 16-20 people down to eight.
The corona consultancy service also recommends that gym visitors wear disposable gloves during training and apply hand sanitiser when entering and leaving the building.
“After consulting with the corona consultancy service and taking the recent encouraging infection figures into account, we are confident that it is safe to open our gym again,” says Berg.
