As treatment of Covid-19 patients requires a high degree of isolation, accommodating future patients inside the National Hospital will be difficult.
To prevent the treatment of potential new Covid-19 patients from interfering with the rest of the hospital’s activities, the management is now planning to set up a temporary Covid-19 field hospital outside the main building.
“This is part of our long-term corona strategy, and we aim to have the new unit ready by 1 September,” says Steinar Eirikstoft, CEO of the national hospital service.
Health minister Kaj Leo Holm Johannesen has requested a DKK 5.3 million additional grant for the project.
