Bars and restaurants ordered to close at 11pm
The trade minister has used his new authority to impose compulsory closing times on nightlife establishments
Bars should now close no later than at 11pm

Trade minister Helgi Abrahamsen has now implemented the authority granted to him by Parliament in late June to close bars and restaurants at 11pm.

The directive will come into force today and will be valid throughout August.

Nightlife establishments that are forced to close before 2am are eligible for compensation in accordance with Covid-19 rescue package 3 regulations applying to tourism companies.
