KÍ breezes into Europa League playoffs
Faroese football clubs are making a name for themselves in the Europa League.
Last week, B36 Tórshavn became the first Faroese side ever to advance in European football three times within a year.
But this adventure came to an end last night with a 1-3 defeat to Bulgaria’s CSKA Sofia.
Biggest win to date
Faroese hopes in the Europa League now rest on KÍ, which last night enjoyed the biggest win ever for a Faroese club in European football, seeing off Georgia’s Dinamo Tblisi with a 6-1 win at Tórshavn’s national stadium.
Next up for the Klaksvík side is a playoff game against Ireland’s Dundalk next week.
Domestic leagues put on hold
In other football news, all domestic league games, except for the men’s Betri premier league, have been postponed until Tuesday 29 September at the earliest.
The announcement came on Wednesday in response to the uncertainties surrounding the current Covid-19 situation.
