A week of sex education for youths

Students in grammar and vocational schools across the country will this week be attending lectures on the body, emotions, prevention, boundaries and sexual rights.
‘Vika sex’ is a collaborative educational programme organised by Amnesty Faroe Islands, the Public Health Board and the Ministry of Social Affairs.
Lectures will start today in Suðuroy, Vestmanna and Klaksvík, followed by lectures at Tórshavn’s Glasir college tomorrow and Wednesday, and the Kambsdalur college on Thursday.
No public events
A regular feature of Vika Sex, the public discussion forum with parents and public health professionals, has been called off due to Covid restrictions.
A Faroese-language lecture, titled "Keldur til seksualvitan hjá føroyskum ungum" ("Sources of sex information for young people in the Faroe Islands") will be broadcast on TV on Thursday at 7:50pm.
The organisers of Vika Sex encourage all lower-secondary school teachers to include sex education in their teaching.
More information about Vika Sex is available here (in Faroese only).
