Recent Covid testing of the entire 77 crew of Russian trawler Karelia, currently docking in Runavík, revealed 32 positive samples. One of the crew has been hospitalised.

The ship, which arrived in Runavík on Tuesday, has been isolated. Police are present at the harbour area to make sure the crew does not disembark.

According to chief medical officer Lars Fodgaard Møller, it is highly unlikely that the infection has spread beyond the Karelia crew.

On 24 July last year, 23 Karelia crew members tested positive while the trawler was docking near Klaksvík. Two of them were hospitalised.
