The Faroes have not had a Russian consul since February this year
Maria í Akrabyrgi will be working to serve the interests and defend the rights of Russian nationals in the Faroe Islands

Maria í Akrabyrgi has been appointed as the new honorary consul of Russia in the Faroes.
Akrabyrgi is the CEO of Faroe Agency, a shipping agency offering services for ships that enter Faroese waters.
Through her Faroe Agency work, she has assisted Russian sailors for the past 30 years.
The Faroes have not had a Russian consul since former Faroe Agency CEO Árni Dam passed away in February of this year.
Dam became the first Russian consul in the Faroes in 2003.
