Corona pass scrapped
The corona pass will from now on only be required for international travel

There is no longer any medical basis for using the corona pass within the country’s borders, the government announced today.

From today, the new recommendation is that no more than 100 people gather indoors regardless of their vaccination status.

The corona pass will, however, still be required for international travel.

“I have been saying all along that we should not use the corona pass one day longer than necessary,” says Prime Minister Bárður á Steig Nielsen.

”I am glad to announce that we no longer recommend the use of the corona pass domestically. I do, however, wish to point out that Covid-19 is still a concern, and I urge everyone to be cautious, get tested if they feel any symptoms and get a booster vaccine shot.”

No exit strategy

The government has requested a possible Covid exit strategy from the epidemic commission.

Due to the limited data on Omicron, the commission says it is too early to implement a specific exit strategy.

Adjusted quarantine recommendations will be announced later this week.

The traffic light response plan will remain in place until further notice.
