One in seven born outside Faroes
About 2,500 people currently residing in the Faroes do not have Danish citizenship

Out of the current Faroese population of about 53,800, 7,884 were born outside of the country, reports Statistics Faroe Islands.
Of these, 1,051 come from countries in Europe, 633 from Asia, 337 from Nordic nations outside the Danish Kingdom, 188 from Africa and 170 from America.
The citizenship of 75 Faroese residents is registered as unknown.
