The Faroes rank third on an international life expectancy list

Faroese people live, on average, 8.2 years longer than in 1990, reports Statistics Faroe Islands.

For men, this figure has increased by 9.5 years and for women 6.9 years since 1990.

With an average life expectancy of 84, the Faroes are ranked third on a list of 190 countries. Hong Kong tops this list, with an average of 85, followed by Macau at 84.

The next 32 countries on the list have an average life expectancy of 80-83 years. These countries include Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.

Greenland is number 125 on the list, with an average life expectancy of 71 years.
