Swimming club appoints top Polish coach
Havnar Svimjifelag, Tórshavn’s swimming club, received 18 applications for its head coach vacancy.
Maciek Hampel, 57, was selected for the job.
Hampel has more than 30 years’ experience as a swimming coach, and his swimmers have won medals in European junior and senior championships and junior world championships.
He holds a master’s degree in sports training from the University of Physical Education in Warsaw.

Since 1999, he has been working with the Polish national swimming team, including as the team’s head coach at last year’s Tokyo Olympics.
He has also recently worked as the head coach of Akademicki Zwiazek Sportowy in Lodz, Poland.
Hampel attended the job interview in the Faroes during the recent Faroese championships in Vágur, where he gained an insight into Faroese swimming.
