Less demand for higher education
More people in the Faroes applied for study at the University of the Faroe Islands than at Danish universities this year

The University of the Faroe Islands received 392 applications this year, while Danish universities received 302.

Overall, the demand among Faroese applicants for higher education is lower than in previous years.

In the 2013/2014 study year, 838 students in the Faroes received grants from Faroese student grant and loan scheme Studni. In that year, 1,423 Faroese students were registered at higher education institutions in Denmark and 258 in other countries.

In the 2020/2021 study year, these figures were 1,018 in the Faroes, 630 in Denmark and 137 in other countries.
