The Danish Parliament is expected to approve DKK 25.5 million for the Faroe Marine Research Institute, according to Faroese member of the Danish Parliament Edmund Joensen.

Denmark is in many respects a pioneer nation in terms of environmental and climate issues, and the new government has now decided to approve Joensen’s request to boost Faroese marine research.

The appropriation will be spread over four years: DKK 4.5 million in 2020 and then DKK 7 million annually in 2012, 2022 and 2023.

Most of the funding will come from the so-called North-Atlantic Funds.
