Unused holidays for this holiday year must be used by 1 May this year, otherwise they will be forfeited, the finance ministry has announced.

This applies to all public sector employees, except for staff in the national emergency services, who will be entitled to carry over their unused holidays to the next holiday year.

The sixth holiday week, for which employees have had the option to receive in lieu payments since 2003, will only be paid out provided that this has been agreed upon prior to 2 May 2019.

Those who have not yet used their sixth holiday week this holiday year can still use it before 1 May, which is the date when this holiday year ends.
