Seven out of the 3,462 tests conducted on Saturday were positive.

Chief medical officer Lars Fodgaard Møller says that although the number of daily Covid cases is now going in the right direction, it is crucial that we all act with caution.

”Covid-19 will be part of our daily lives for at least one more year, or until an effective vaccine is developed, so we need to be constantly alert,” he says.

“We can now conclude that it was not foreign tourists who brought back the virus. It was Faroese residents and Faroese expats returning home.

"We also know that Tórshavn, specifically the ólavsøka celebrations and private parties, was the epicentre of this second wave of Covid-19.”

The 2,269 tests from yesterday are currently being analysed.

More than 1,000 people are in quarantine at the moment. No-one is hospitalised for Covid-19.
