The mandatory Covid testing of all arrivals at the Faroese borders will end on 1 August.

“The Covid-19 spread is currently more or less under control,” says police chief Michael Boolsen, who also heads the epidemic commission.

“And with our additional 10,500 vaccine doses, we expect about 70 percent of the Faroese population to be fully vaccinated by 1 August, which is close to what is needed to achieve herd immunity.”

He adds that mandatory testing may be reinstated if the Covid situation changes significantly in the coming weeks.

No new Covid cases

None of yesterday’s 889 Covid tests came out positive.

The daily numbers of positive tests over the past week have been as follows: 0, 3, 1, 2, 0, 3 and 0.
