A road notorious for speeding cars
Police are reminding drivers to respect the frequently ignored speed limits in Skipanes, Eysturoy

It looks and feels like a main road with a regular 80 km/h speed limit.

Yet, despite signs clearly indicating a 50 km/h limit, drivers continue to be caught speeding along the road passing through the Eysturoy village of Skipanes.

Two drivers had their licences revoked and five received penalty points following police speed checks in the area yesterday.

The Skipanes road and the road passing through parts of Kollafjørður, Streymoy, are among the most common road stretches where drivers are caught speeding.
