Tourism set to hit record high this year
After two difficult years, the Faroese tourism industry is poised to bounce back in style this year, says Visit Faroe Islands

Faroese tourism operators are optimistic ahead of the upcoming summer season.
In fact, 2022 may well turn out to be the best year ever in terms of tourism arrivals.
“Bookings figures for this year are at about the same level as in 2019, which was the best year on record,” says Guðrið Højgaard, CEO of Visit Faroe Islands.
“Our hotel capacity has increased significantly since 2019. In previous years, we struggled to accommodate large groups in our hotels, but with this obstacle now out of the way, I believe we may reach record-high visitor numbers this year.”
Most of the bookings registered so far this year have come from Europe.
