Early retirement pensioners unite in new association

About 175 people have so far joined a Facebook group for early retirement pensioners.
These people are early retirement pensioners for a wide variety of reason, but they have many things in common.
”Early retirement pensioners can feel lonely at times because they feel they are on the sidelines of society,” say Poula Ennigarð and Tina Johansen, two of the organisers of the new association.
Bringing people together
The objective is to join forces to work on relevant political and social issues and to create a special community for early retirement pensioners.
“We know that some early retirement pensioners have a very limited social network. We hope that our association will bring our members closer together.”
Relatives are also welcome
All early retirement pensioners and their relatives may join the new association.
“It is important to include the relatives because many early retirement pensioners rely heavily on their relatives and their social network,” say the two organisers.
“Becoming an early retirement pensioner can affect a person’s identity. It can be a very lonely existence, and these people are often stigmatised.”
