Improved access to Chinese market
A Faroese delegation is visiting China this week to discuss trade deal

Høgni Hoydal, the Minister of Trade and Foreign Affairs, (pictured left above) is heading a Faroese delegation currently on a visit to China.

He has had meetings with the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce and food import authority GACC.

The two countries have agreed to prepare the necessary steps for formal talks about a free trade agreement.

Chinese authorities are said to be positively minded about granting the Faroese wish for improved access to Chinese markets with regards to various fish products as well as improving market access for Faroese firms and ships.

The Faroese representation office in Beijing hosted a public reception today. The event was attended by Mr Hoydal along with industry and government representatives from the Faroes and China.

The representation office opened in 2019.
