Haldórsvík, Eysturoy, has two schools. The old school was recently renovated, leaving the worn-out school in the á Bø district redundant to the small village population.

Sunda Municipality has now decided to tear down the á Bø school, with demolition work expected to start in the coming weeks.

Hans Pauli Joensen bought the residential house in 1923-1924 and used it as a grocery store for decades. In the 1980s, the Nonconformist Church Association purchased the house and used it for camp activities.

Haldórsvík day-care rented the basement for a few years, and in 2001 the municipality took over the running of the house and turned it into a school, which was active until 2016.

Once the school has been demolished, the area will be turned into a public garden. The old trees will be maintained and will form part of the garden.
