New roundabout in Tórshavn

Tórshavn will get a new roundabout at the crossing between Íslandsvegur, Landavegur and Heygsvegur in September.

Repaving work at the bottom end of Landavegur has been going on for months, but now the City Council says the work will be completed by the end of July.

The repaving work ended up becoming much more extensive than planned due to installation of cables, including district heating systems.

However, despite complains about delays, everything has gone according to plan, says the City Council.

“All cables have now been installed, with the exception of a small area at Heygsvegur,” says municipal engineer Heini Eysturoy. “We are currently laying kerbstones, and this work is nearly complete at the southern end of the stretch.”

The City Council expects the repaving work to be completed by Ólavsøka in late July. However, due to the upcoming holiday season the roundabout itself will probably not be ready until September.
