Audiobooks will soon be exempted from VAT, finance minister Kristina Háfoss has vowed.
Printed books are exempt from VAT, but audiobooks are currently in a different product category which is required to pay VAT.
Arguing that audiobooks serve the same function as printed books, the finance minister now wants to change the VAT status for audiobooks.
Tax authority Taks has no statistics on how much VAT revenue stems from audiobooks.
