No fishing in Icelandic waters next year
No fishing rights deal has been agreed between the Faroes and Iceland for next year

Talks between Faroese and Icelandic fishery authorities about next year’s quotas have not yet resulted in an agreement.

The last official meeting between the two sides was on 23 October. However, the dialogue is still ongoing, according to Andras Kristiansen of the Faroese Ministry of Fisheries.

Capelin fishing normally starts in late January, but it is unclear whether any capelin will be caught next year, as it has been recommended that no capelin should be caught next year.

Faroese long liners usually start fishing around Iceland in spring, and a lot can change until then, says Andras Kristiansen.
