Swimming pool planning contract signed

Planning work on the new 50-metre swimming pool in Gundadalur, Tórshavn, has started.

Tórshavn City Council signed a consultancy agreement with Selmar Nielsen Arkitektar (SNA) on Wednesday.

On 23 April 2015, the City Council started working on a construction programme for a 50-metre swimming pool as part of an extension of the existing swimming hall, which was completed in 1982. The construction programme was approved on 16 June 2016.

The new swimming pool, which is expected to be completed in 2022, will be 25 metres wide and 50 metres long.

According to a cost estimate from May 2016, the total project cost will be DKK 80 million.
