No traffic fatalities were reported in 2018, according to the Road Safety Council

Last year was the first full calendar year for more than 50 years in which no traffic fatalities were reported.
This is even more impressive seeing as the number of cars on the road has increased more than tenfold in this period.
The exact figures for road traffic accidents with injury in 2018 are yet to be published. In previous years, this number has averaged around 30.
Human error continues to be the main cause (>90%) of road traffic accidents. The main culprits are excessive speed, alcohol and drugs, and careless driving.
