Faroes want to host UEFA youth championships
The Faroese Football Association has applied to host the UEFA U19 final tournaments in 2021 and 2022

The Faroes are one of 17 member associations to apply for hosting one of the UEFA national team youth final tournaments in 2021 and 2022.

The tournament in question is the European Championships for U19 and U17 men’s and women’s teams.

High hopes

Kristin Dam Ziska, vice president of the Football Association (FSF), says the Faroes may not meet all the requirements, but he remains confident nonetheless.

One requirement is that the host nation must have four internationally approved football pitches available throughout the championships, and the Faroes have only two – Tórsvøllur in Tórshavn and Svangaskarð in Toftir.

UEFA’s Executive Committee will select the successful host associations on 24 September.
