New diploma course in arts

A new two-year diploma course in arts will be launched at the University of the Faroe Islands next year.
Initially, the study programme will have two directions, creative writing and music, but others will follow in the coming years.
The minimum admission requirement is a ‘miðnámsprógv’ – roughly equivalent to British grammar school and American high school diplomas – along with an entrance exam.
According to the university’s website, the plan is to admit students every two years.
The new course will be divided equally into theoretical and practical study.
The university has been planning the new arts course for some time, and in 2016 it gained approval from the Ministry of Culture.
