Faroes reach next round of U16 Euro qualifiers

The Faroese U16 women’s national volleyball team secured a fourth place in the first round of the 2019 CEV U16 Volleyball European Championships for girls, held in Tórshavn this weekend.

The Faroese girls lost the third-place game against Sweden by 3-0.

However, the overall fourth place is enough for a place in the next qualification round.

The players consider the fourth place a good result as this is the first time a Faroese U16 team plays in these championships.

Malan Maria í Haraldsstovu Weihe, the captain of the Faroese team, said the greatest challenge was playing against opponents who are much bigger than the Faroese players.

Finland met Denmark in yesterday’s final, which ended with a 3-0 win for Finland.

The next round will be played in April.
