Lower entry requirements for social workers

The assistant social worker study programme is available at the Public Health School in Hov, Suðuroy

The current entry requirement for the assistant social worker course in Suðuroy is ninth grade plus two years’ relevant academic or work experience. The Ministry of Culture now wants to lower this requirement from two years to one.
On 21 January, former culture minister Rigmor Dam proposed that the entry requirements for the assistant social worker study programme should be aligned with other vocational courses.
Her argument was that if the entry requirements are too high, it may deter people from going into further education after high school. The matter is currently being processed by the Culture Committee.
