The repair and maintenance backlog in the Faroese infrastructure is much higher than in the other Nordic nations. In the Faroes, the backlog amounts to DKK 375 million.

This is nine times the annual maintenance grant for Landsverk, the Faroese Road and Tunnel Authority. In the other Nordic countries this backlog is between one and six times the annual infrastructure maintenance budget.

Lacking maintenance work is the main cause of the big backlog. As a result, repair and maintenance have been made more prominent in the 2018-2030 transport plan.
