Fewer cases for citizens’ aid bureau

Last year, the Faroese citizens’ aid bureau received 667 enquiries, compared with 725 in the previous year.

Seventeen cases were initiated last year, of which eight were concluded. This is also a reduction on the previous year.

More women than men – 390 women and 274 men – contacted the citizens’ aid bureau in 2018. Eighty-six of those who contacted the bureau were assigned a lawyer.

The 30-65 age group was best represented in last year’s statistics, at 75 percent. The most common subjects of enquiry are inheritance and the winding up of estates.
