Faroese ‘Oscars’ awarded

Andrias Høgenni’s short movie “Ikki illa meint” won the best movie category at the seventh annual Geytin short film awards ceremony on Saturday evening.
Nine short films were nominated and two awards were handed out: the Geytin prize and the Public Choice award. The Public Choice award went to director Julia í Kálvalíð for "Omman".
Perfectly balanced
In an interview with news portal in.fo, Birgir Kruse, the head of the judging panel, said the following about “Ikki illa meint”:
“It manages to engage the viewer throughout, maintaining a seamless balance between comedy and tragedy, while at the same time telling a touching story of human fragility.”
This is the third time Andrias Høgenni wins the Geytin award. In 2015, he won with ”Stina Karina”, and the following year his movie “Et knæk” scooped both the Geytin and the Public Choice awards.
