A new care home should replace the existing Eiragarður building, according to Eyðgunn Samuelsen, the Minister of Social Affairs.

The minister has dropped the plan to refurbish the Eirargarður 14/16 building and has now presented a new plan to construct a new building, which is scheduled for completion no later than 2024.

According to the minister’s proposal, the new building will consist of 18 flats for people with various handicaps. The building will consist of two units, each divided into three sub-sections.

All 18 flats will be designed for optimal care, and 12 of the flats will have large bathrooms. The project cost is estimated at DKK 44 million.
