New temporary day-care centre in Tórshavn

Tórshavn City Council has approved 56 temporary day-care places in the Hoydalar district of the capital.

For the past year or so, the building, located next to the old high school, has been used by three different day nurseries, based in Hoyvík, which are currently undergoing extension work.

These extension projects are now nearing completion, and the day nursery children and staff are expected to return to their original premises in Hoyvík in the coming weeks.

Ideal location

This will pave the way for 56 new temporary day-care places, split into 36 places for toddlers and 20 for pre-schoolers.

According to the City Council, Hoydalar is an ideal location for a day-care centre, with spacious rooms and beautiful scenery. 

An outdoor playground will also be set up in the area.
