Urgent housing list ready soon

One of the key points in the government’s housing package was to create a list of properties available for citizens in urgent need of a place to stay.

“We are now close to a solution,” says Eyðgunn Samuelsen, the Minister of Social Affairs.

The head of the Kvinnuhúsið (women’s refuge) recently said that as no-one has taken responsibility for accommodation for those in urgent need, the consequence is that the women’s refuge is constantly full.

Taking too long

The upcoming urgent housing list will be a solution to this problem, says the minister.

Elin Hentzen, of the Búgva housing interest group, welcomes the new solution, but she adds that it should have been made a long time ago.
