More variety in sports TV coverage
Sports other than football and handball will soon be aired regularly on television screens across the country.
Private cable TV provider Televarpið and the Faroese Confederation of Sports (ÍSF) have agreed on details for broadcasting live sports on the Televarpið media platforms.
“This will make it possible to shed more light on the smaller sports disciplines,” says Petur Mittún, general secretary of ÍSF.
Two-year contract
According to the contract, which is initially valid up until the end of 2020, sports will be broadcast on the Rás 1 radio channel, on the Televarpið app and online at tv.fo.
Televarpið customers will not be charged extra for the new sports coverage.
